Films must be completed in 2024 or 2025
Films must be between 1 and 9 minutes long
Film genres - live-action, documentary, experimental, animation or music video
Films need to be PG or M rated. PG is preferred.
Films can be accepted from any region as long as English subtitles are displayed.
Films may have screened at other festivals - please provide details of festival history and any awards
Upload a low-res version of the film to FilmFreeway for the selection process or provide a video link if available.
If your film is selected for the Festival, you will be asked to provide a high resolution copy**
TARANAKI FILM CHALLENGE 2025
Films must include the 2025 elements - TIME and a character beginning with the letter M
Films must be made in Taranaki*
Films must be between 1 and 7 minutes long
Films needs to be PG rated so avoid using gore, sex and excessive violent content
Films needs to include an end title 'Made for Taranaki Film Challenge 2025'
Upload a high quality final version of the film to FilmFreeway by the deadline date using these settings**
*Exceptions - Teams from outside Taranaki may enter the film challenge, entries will be limited to not more than 20% of total entries. If selected for the Festival at least one member must attend on 6th December.
**1920x1080 HD resolution, 16:9, 25fps PAL Progressive, 1.0 (Square Pixels) Aspect Ratio, Video codec H.264 with AAC 48 Khz audio, exported as mp4 or mov file type.
By submitting your entry to the New Plymouth Short Film Festival in either the Short Film or Taranaki Challenge category, you agree to the following:
You grant permission for NPSFF to screen your film at any additional New Plymouth Short Film Festival screenings.
You authorize NPSFF to use any images, posters, press kits or videos submitted with your application for marketing and promotional purposes related to NPSFF
